Adjoining to this sea is a village known as Murud in Murud taluka. Two coastal villages Danda and Rajapuri are connected to Murud. Rajpuri is at a distance of four to five kilometers from Murud. The village is on the shorelines of the creek. To the west of this Rajapuri village is on an island within the sea. Boats are used to reach this citadel from Rajapuri.

Janjira approach a fortress surrounded via the sea. This is why this  Janjira become impenetrable. Among   those   cannons  became  the  unique  huge and lengthy variety Kalal Bangadi cannon. throughout the reign of Shivaji Maharaj, this Janjira remained invincible until the end for the Swarajya of Maharashtra.

The word Janjira is taken from the Arabic language. it's far derived from the Arabic phrase jazira. Jazira is an island. At that point Rajpuri turned into in particular  inhabited by using Koli peoplethese spiders have  been constantly harassed by robbers and uncles.  Medhekot   was  constructed at the island to save you those pirates. Medhekot is a rampart constructed of big wood logs adjoining to every different. Spiders lived effectively in those ramparts. At that time he become headed by means of Ram Patil. At that time, permission of Nizami Thanedar needed to be sought for the construction of Medhekot. As quickly as he got the safety of Medhekota, Ram Patil became the policeman. So the Thanedar appointed Piramkhana to attend to him.

Pirmarkhana had an idea that Ram Patil could now not allow him roam near Medhekota. He become very smart. Pretending to be a liquor service provider, he anchored his deliver within the bay. He despatched a few bottles of liquor as a gift to be in love with Ram Patil. So Ram Patil become satisfied. Piramkhana expressed his preference to look Medhekot. Piramkhan went to Medhekot. whilst all the fishermen have been under the influence of alcohol at night time, Piramkhana took down the military from the rest of the ships, killed all of them and captured Medhekot.

Later, Burhankhana was appointed in place of Piramkhana.  He obtained permission from the Nizam  to  construct  a robust fortress there. the existing building is built with the aid of this Burhankhana. Later, in 1617, Siddi  Amber received an independent constitution from the emperor and obtained the Jahagiri. he's considered to be the authentic man of  Janjira Sansthan. Janjirya's Siddi, at first from Abyssinia, was a courageousdifficult and difficult seaman. He fought valiantly. Many tried to win Janjira. however he could not be successful. Even Chhatrapati Shivaji Raja could not get possession of Janjira. No one could win Janjira for 330 years from 1617 to 1947. the entrance to Janjira is facing east. whilst the boat reaches the entrance of the citadelthere's a subdivision inside this frontthere is a sculpture close to the entrance. This image indicates the pride of Burhankhana. it's miles a image of a tiger preserving four elephants on all four legs and an elephant wrapped around its tail. Burhankhan shows to the other rulers, "you're an elephant, but i am also a lion. Do no longer dare to observe this fortress with a crooked eye."

The Siddi chiefs of this fort constantly kept this fortress invincible. To capture this fortress, Sambhaji Maharaj had built a strong fort known as Padmadurg at a distance of five or six kilometers close to this castlehowever, it turned into now not feasible for Maharaj to overcome Murud's Janjira.

The ramparts of Janjirya are expanded. He has a door to the ocean. There are 19 such towers. the distance between the 2 towers is extra than ninety ftthere are numerous steps to reach the ramparts. The ramparts have arches. guns are positioned going through that arch. it's miles noted that there are 514 guns on Janjirya. Of these,  Kalalabangadi, Landakasam and  Chawri  weapons   can  nonetheless be visible.

in the middle of the citadel, the majestic fortress of Surulkhana is in a dilapidated circumstance. There are huge lakes of water. The fort used to have three localities. two of those localities belonged to Muslims and one to others. The castle used to have a huge populacewhilst the palace turned into completedall of the settlements left.

It also has Casa alias Padmadurg constructed on the sea and Samrajgad at the  coast.  searching at Janjire Mehroob, which has remained impregnable and invincible for 330 years, the graph of many episodes  of history disappears earlier than our eyes. it's going to clearly be memorable if you visit Janjirya after analyzing a bit little bit of records. '
