STORY TELLING
THE WIND AND THE SUN
Once the Wind and the Sun had an argument. "I am stronger than you," said the Wind. "No, you are not," said the Sun. Just at that moment they saw a traveler walking across the road. He was wrapped in a shawl. The Sun and the Wind agreed that whoever could separate the traveller from his shawl was stronger.
The Wind took the first turn. He blew with all his might to tear the traveller's shawl from his shoulders. But the harder he blew, the tighter the traveller gripped the shawl to his body. The struggle went on till the Wind's turn was over.
Now it was the Sun's turn. The Sun smiled warmly. The traveller felt the warmth of the smiling Sun. Soon he let the shawl fall open. The Sun's smile grew warmer and warmer... hotter and hotter. Now the traveller no longer needed his shawl. He took it off and dropped it on the ground. The Sun was declared stronger than the Wind.
Moral : Brute force can't achieve what a gentle smile can.

SPECIAL INTRODUCTION
TEJ BAHADUR SAPRU
Indian lawyer and politician
[8 December 1875 - 20 January 1949]
Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru was jurist and statesman important in the progress of British India toward self-government. For his integrity and wisdom he was trusted both by the British government and by Indian intellectual and political leaders. He was knighted in 1922.
Educated at Agra College, Allahabad, Sapru practiced law before the High Court at Allahabad from 1896. He was a member of the United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh) Legislative Council (1913–16) and of the Imperial Legislative Council (1916–20), a law member of the Viceroy’s Council (1920–23), and a delegate to the three Round Table Conference sessions in London (1930–32) concerning the government of India. His mediation helped to bring about the Gandhi-Irwin Pact (1931), by which the Indian nationalist leader Mohandas K. Gandhi terminated a civil disobedience campaign and was allowed to attend the second session of the Round Table Conference. Sapru was also in part responsible for the Poona Pact modifying the British plan for a separate electorate of Hindu untouchables. This agreement caused Gandhi to abandon the fast that he had begun in September 1932 in protest against the British scheme.
In 1934 Sapru became a privy councillor. Unlike most of his political colleagues in India, he supported the World War II effort of the British Empire without insisting on an early grant of independence in return.
