STORY TELLING
THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF
A boy and his father lived in a village. While the sheep grazed in the fields, the boy’s father instructed him to keep an eye on them. He had to take the sheep to the grassy fields every day. The boy, on the other hand, was dissatisfied and wanted to run and play. He decided to have a good time. “Wolf! Wolf!” he yelled, and the entire village came storming with stones to chase the wolf away before it could eat any of the sheep.
The villagers went muttering under their breath about how the boy had wasted their time when they discovered there was no wolf. The boy shouted out again the next day, “Wolf! Wolf!” and the villagers hurried over to chase the wolf away.
The villagers walked away enraged this time. On the third day, as the boy climbed the tiny hill, he came face to face with a wolf attacking his sheep. “Wolf! Wolf! Wolf!” he screamed as loudly as he could, yet not a single person came to his aid. The villagers assumed he was trying to trick them once more and did not come. That day, the small boy lost a lot of sheep due to his folly.
Moral : Always be truthful, you never know what lies may lead to.

SPECIAL INTRODUCTION
SIR CHHOTU RAM
Indian Freedom Fighter
[24 November 1881 - 9 January 1945]
Chhotu Ram’s birth anniversary is celebrated on November 24th. Sir Chhotu Ram was one of the prominent politicians in the era of British rule in India. He was born on November 24, 1881, in Garhi Sampla, a village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. Sir Chhotu Ram’s name was Ram Richpal and he was the youngest in his family, following this, his family called him Chotu Ram, a name which was then known by everyone in India.
Sir Chhotu Ram belonged to a very humble family and after completing his education in his village, he moved to Delhi, where he completed his schooling and joined St. Stephen’s College and obtained his graduation degree. Sir Chhotu Ram then received a degree in Law from Agra College. Sir Chhotu Ram belonged to the Jat community and was an advocate for farmers and their rights, and was soon regarded as “Kisano Ka Masiha”. Sir Chhotu Ram has made immense contributions in order to spread awareness that farming was the primary activity. Sir Chhotu Ram was termed as a caste leader by some of his critics, however, his work for the development of farmers cannot go unnoticed.
Sir Chhotu Ram started his legal practice in the year 1912 and alongside he established the Jat Sabha, following which Jat Gazette was launched soon after. In 1916, Sir Chhotu Ram joined politics and became a member of the Congress party. Soon after joining the Congress party, Sir Chhotu Ram was made the president of the Rohtak district’s Congress Committee till 1920.
He also made an immense contribution to the recruitment by the British Army for the First World War. Sir Chhotu Ram sent over 22,000 Jats from Rohtak. After the First World War, Sir Chhotu Ram also backed the recruitment drive in the Second World War for the British as well. Following this, in the year 1923, Sir Chhotu Ram also formed a Unionist Party by forming an alliance with Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan and Fazl-e-Hussain. The Unionist Party won the election and a coalition government was formed and Sir Chhotu Ram was appointed as the Revenue Minister. Sir Chhotu Ram passed several laws during his tenures like the Mandi Act and Consolidation Holdings Act and he also ensured that the laws were implemented and not just passed.
In the year 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a statue of Sir Chhotu Ram in Rohtak, after a Jat agitation was witnessed in the area. Every year, whenever any party in Haryana tries to contest an election and woo the Jat voters, Sir Chhotu Ram’s important role becomes crucial for the political parties.
